The Almost-Happening

Poster

The Happening doesn’t entirely deserve its bad rap. The key to this may be to have low expectations, which I did – I was expecting the train wreck of the year. But it was actually enjoyable and thought-provoking. I would see it again for sure.

Viva la Vida

Cons
· The Title of the album
· Three of the tracks have two songs on them. Be honest. Split them up. (minor quibble)
· Won’t convert Coldplay-haters
· Publicity tour involved pictures like this.

Neither
· Some of the tracks sound like Arcade Fire (Lovers in Japan particularly), which makes sense.

Pros

· Good tunes.
· Good sense of the dramatic.
· Regained some of the urgency that vanished on X&Y.
· Not too long.
· None of the songs really screams “SINGLE!!!”
· Better than 90% of their imitators
· One or two songs that come close to being classified as fun

All in all, a pretty good album.

Holy Crap

This is amazing.

Blog Death

I’m contemplating letting this blog die. If there is anyone out there who actually reads it and wants it to continue, feel free to let us know. Otherwise, I might let the quarterly fees for the space lapse next time around. Cheers….

Why So Serious?

Coldplay doesn’t take themselves seriously. Take this picture for example.
They are pretty much dressed like clowns.

Christian Cruises

I got an email advertising a Christian conference going on aboard a cruise ship. Does this strike anyone as weird? Do we really think about this enough? I have a hard time believing that Jesus would have participated in something like this. Maybe the next time you think about going on one of these, you could save your money and donate it to a soup kitchen, or volunteer there. American Christians are a lot wealthier that they think and need to keep things in perspective sometimes.

I’m Tempted…

I’m really tempted.
